Carnival in Venice

Although festivals and carnivals can be found all over the world, there is certainly no equal to the Carnival of Venice. Using the incredibly beautiful and romantic city of Venice as a backdrop, this is a once in a lifetime chance to experience an unforgettable adventure in fantasy and myth. It's an event which shouldn't be confused with the Mardi Gras in New Orleans or the Oktoberfest in Munich. This is a celebration of a city: its history, religion, and its people.

You'll start off your adventure with a small surprise: most of the people in Venice will already be sporting their finest costumes. Even our bus drivers and tour guides will be decked out in full regalia. You are also invited to join in the holiday spirit and do likewise. Of course, there will be a prize given for the most creative costume.

From our hotels, we'll be able to quickly get to the center of the action - the romantic streets and back-streets of Venice. You'll probably spend an entire day just walking around the Piazzas and fountains, taking in the quiet beauty of this venerable Italian city.

The hotels which we have booked are all located in the center of Venice. They are clean, comfortable hotels with predominantly in-room showers and bathrooms. One of our hotels (Hotel Montin) is well known not only as a hotel, but also as a museum with incomparable atmosphere. Even former president Jimmy Carter made a point of eating here!

On Saturday, there are all sorts of possibilities: parades, live music, and theater productions. On Monday, we'll offer a walking tour of Venice (cars aren't allowed!), and on Tuesday comes the Grande Finale: an enormous spectacle, with parades and dance troupes all over the canals and squares of the city. It all comes to a huge climax as the highlight of the festival, the fireworks, signals an end to the year's celebration. This is no typical fireworks but an incredible combination of color and sound that turns the canals and buildings into one gigantic stage for this unique carnival.

Venice is a city which attracts visitors from all over the world at all times of the year. The fact that we'll be going during the exciting Venetian carnival will be the frosting on the cake.
